News Tuesday morning came out that the Texans are releasing WR Demaryius Thomas. Thomas is coming off of an achillies injury that happened in week 16.
This isn’t the first time that’s happened to him, either. That’s both good and bad. Good in a sense that you know Thomas will and can recover relatively quickly. Bad in the sense that who knows if he will be the same athlete or receiver after yet another injury. Is he worth the risk is the ultimate question?
For the Texans, Thomas never had more than 63 yards receiving. Add that and the fact he’s coming off of an injury, it’s tough to imagine him getting a big contract. With Tyrell Williams likely moving on, would this make sense for the Chargers? Thomas gives the team a perimeter threat. He also gives them a speed threat. All that will do is open things up for Keenan Allen and company underneath. There’s value that Thomas has from simply being on the field.
He has to be on the field. So, is he worth it?
