Should the Cardinals re-sign LB Gerald Hodges?

NFL free agency is less than a week away and things will get crazy. The Arizona Cardinals have many players set to become free agents. One is linebacker Gerald Hodges, a late addition to the team in training camp in 2018.

Should he be re-signed?

The Cardinals definitely are thin at linebacker. They released Josh Bynes and Deone Bucannon is set to hit free agency. His return is uncertain.

Hodges played in every single game last season, starting in six of them. He was reliable enough for previous Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks to get more playing time while Bucannon and Haason Reddick struggled with the new defense.

Hodges finished with 58 tackles, two for a loss.

He is definitely not a game-changing player at linebacker. However, he has played much of his career in a 3-4 and he has starting experience. He is the sort of player who is a starter on a bad team, but he is also comfortable playing as depth.

Considering the lack of depth at the position, he might not be a bad addition, but only as a depth player. The Cardinals could do a lot worse off the bench than Hodges.
