Should the Cardinals re-sign FB Derrick Coleman?

Next up in our review of Arizona Cardinals free agents is fullback Derrick Coleman. Should he be re-signed for 2019?

Coleman was the team’s first fullback on the roster since Anthony Sherman, whom they traded in 2013 after Bruce Arians was hired as coach. Arians didn’t use a fullback in his offense.

Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy did, so Coleman was added.

He played in all 16 games, had two receptions and two carries for three yards.

Despite the talk last offseason about adding a fullback to the offense, he was used on only 74 offensive snaps in 16 games. He did, though, play a ton on special teams.

Looking ahead to 2019, the Cardinals might not need him. When new coach Kliff Kingsbury was asked about a fullback in one interview, he was non-committal. It doesn’t sound like he will have one.

Should the Cardinals bring him back anyway? He was a core special teams player.

Vote in the poll to give your thoughts.
