Should Seahawks pursue former UW corner Byron Murphy?

The Seattle Seahawks have been connected to a handful of local players this combine season, including Washington quarterback Jake Browning and Washington State tackle Andre Dillard.

However, perhaps the local player that best fits Seattle’s needs next season is Washington cornerback Byron Murphy, who many believe could get selected in the first round.

Murphy’s actual combine results aren’t anything special, but the six-foot, 175-pound corner came into the combine sitting closer to 190 pounds, a positive sign considering his small frame was viewed as a detriment by most scouts.

Murphy may still be adjusting to his added muscle mass, but if he is able to retain his elite playmaking ability and big-hitting tendencies without sacrificing too much speed, he would be a very big pickup for a cornerback-needy Seahawks team.

Murphy is still a raw talent, but if Seattle is either to snag him in the first round, or trade down and get him in the second, he would be a great young piece to partner with Tre Flowers and Shaquill Griffin to form what could potentially become Legion of Boom 2.0.
