With the country in lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis, there have been plenty of questions asked on whether we should be donating blood - and if we can.
Is there a greater demand for blood just now? And are people allowed to leave their homes to donate?
Glasgow Live got in touch with the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service team to ask them the key questions.
Is there a greater demand for blood donations amid the coronavirus crisis?
"Stocks are very healthy at the current time thanks to an overwhelming response from donors and public however we have seen a drop in demand in the last week for blood from hospitals of more than 20%.
"As a result we need to ensure that we only call donors over the next few weeks to donate as we require them. Every donation plays a critical role in patient care and we need to know that donors are waiting in side lines for our call and that we do not waste any of this valuable resource."
Can you still donate while on lockdown?
"All sessions are currently going ahead as normal. We will update all donors directly and via our website or social media if this changes.
"Appointments can be made in any of our five city donor centres – the Glasgow Donor Centre is at 8 Nelson Mandela Place."
What restrictions are there for donors, in terms of coronavirus?
"We are asking donors that as long as they are feeling fit and well, and not impacted by COVID 19, either personally or if a member of their household is affected that they attend to donate when we call them.
"This approach will more effectively help us ensure that we are collecting the right blood group at the right time."
Where can I find out more information?
"Donors can read more about donor selection for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our Scotblood website, HERE."
