'Should have spent the money on Tripper!' - Manchester United fans slam Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United's supporters have slammed the performance of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka following their 2-0 defeat to cross-city rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.

An own-goal from defender Eric Bailly and a close-range finish from Bernardo Silva fired City into a two-goal by half time and from that moment in the contest was won.

City were dominant from minute one, dictating the rhythm of the game, the possession and had a shed load of chances to add to their tally. Had it not been for David de Gea, City could have had three or four by half time.

It was a dismal showing from United, who, although the scoreline did not reflect it, were just as bad as they were against Liverpool almost two weeks ago.

Collectively poor, every United player is destined to come in for criticism, but few have faced it more than right-back Wan-Bissaka, who experienced a forgettable afternoon.

He was continuously caught out of position, failed to close down Joao Cancelo for the cross that resulted in City's opening goal and simply didn't carry out the duty expected of a wing-back.

With his struggles showing no sign of ending, United's supporters have piled further misery on the former Crystal Palace man, delivering a damning verdict on him on social media. Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some United supporters have had to say.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the Tweets above, United's fans have heavily criticised Wan-Bissaka, with one fan insisting that they should have signed Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier in the summer to be United's first choice right-back.
