'Should have been red' - Chelsea fans fume at what Francis Coquelin did to Mason Mount

Mason Mount's Champions League debut ended earlier than he would have liked.

The Chelsea midfielder has been one of the shining lights of the Blues' campaign so far this season, scoring three goals in his first five Premier League games for the club.

The 20-year-old however was on the end of an early challenge from former Arsenal man Francis Coquelin. A challenge in which the midfielder was given a yellow card, with a VAR check agreeing with the decision.

Upon replays, it seems that the Valencia man may have been lucky to stay on the pitch, which was the opinion of many Chelsea fans.

To add injury to insult, after attempting to carry on after the challenge, Mount had to replaced by Pedro minutes after the challenge occurred, meaning that the Chelsea man could be a doubt for the upcoming games for the Blues.

Mount is one of a few players to have played every minute of every Premier League game for the Blues so far this season.

So there is no surprise that Chelsea fans reacted with anger towards Coquelin, insisting that the Frenchman should have suffered the same fate as Mount at having to watch from the sidelines for the remainder of the match.

Here is the reaction from Chelsea and the club's fans.

Chelsea will be hoping that Mount's injury isn't too serious and that he will be available for the Premier League meeting with Liverpool.
