Should face masks be compulsory in public indoor places?

Covid cases are continuing to rise across the Liverpool City Region.

There was a 40% rise in positive covid tests in the region according to the latest figures released by Public Health England, in the week ending July 2. Knowsley, Halton and Sefton reported a week-on-week percentage change figure rises were 42%, 43% and 41%. respectively.

Other areas in the Liverpool City region reported an increase in positive covid tests. The week-on-week percentage change figure increases were 27% in Liverpool; 37% in St Helens; 38% in Wirral.

Although face coverings are no longer compulsory in most public spaces, government guidance recommends wearing face coverings to limit the spread of covid. But with the rise in covid cases, should face masks be compulsory in public indoor places?
