Should England have walked off the pitch following racist abuse in Bulgaria?

England considered walking off the pitch after suffering racist abuse in their Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria.

Ultimately, Gareth Southgate's side decided to finish the game, running out 6-0 winners with a performance the England boss described as a "major statement" in the face of just abhorrent conditions.

The Euro 2020 qualifier was twice halted in the first period as racist chanting was directed towards England's black players and the team dugout.

Some supporters in home sections of the ground were also seen making Nazi salutes, while the stadium was already partially-closed stadium because of previous sanctions for racism.

"The lads decided to stay out. They wanted to play. They wanted to carry on," captain Harry Kane said post-match.

"We don't want the racists to win," was the message from the squad, relayed by FA chairman Greg Clarke.

But would a bigger statement have been delivered by walking off?
