CHICAGO _ It has been months since we last answered questions about Marquee Sports Network, but Major League Baseball's effort to pick up the pieces of its shattered season _ pandemic or no _ makes the Chicago Cubs' new TV channel relevant once more.
For fans who live in the multistate area MLB considers the Cubs' TV market, Marquee _ a joint venture of the team and Sinclair Broadcast Group _ will air all of the Cubs games MLB's national TV partners don't claim.
Marquee's lack of a carriage agreement with Comcast, which serves roughly half the Chicago market, remains as big a source of concern as it was before COVID-19 upended life as we know it 100-plus days ago.
Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney said last week on WSCR-AM 670 the sides were close to a deal in March and have resumed discussions.
"We're optimistic we'll get some things on here soon," Kenney said.
Both sides said this week there's nothing new to report.
