Should Ben Roethlisberger quit doing his radio show?

There is a rumor circulating the internet Sunday that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is going to stop doing his weekly radio show on 93.7 The Fan for the upcoming season. There’s been no confirmation from Either the radio station or Roethlisberger so we take all this with a grain of salt.

But it does have us wondering if Roethlisberger should stop doing the weekly radio spot.

Roethlisberger has come under fire from some about his candid nature on the weekly show. He’s talked about teammates, criticizing them and this has rubbed fans and players the wrong way. The team is looking to purge the drama from the roster and this might be the next step.

For a guy who maintains such a private persona on social media, it does seem out of character for him to be so open on the radio. I’m sure this has all been part of the agreement between Roethlisberger and the radio station but considering all the drama of the offseason, a clean break might be prudent.

Personally, I’ve never had any problems with Roethlisberger being critical of his teammates but I’ve never felt like he crossed any lines with what he said. And considering no player is more critical of themselves than Big Ben is, if he wants to motivate his teammates to work harder, so be it. You can bet what he’s told his teammates privately was much more critical than anything he said on the radio.
