Shotts Bon Accord boss John McKeown says a win over Whitletts Victoria on Saturday was the perfect Christmas present.
The Hannah Park side signed off for 2021 with an important 2-1 victory away from home against their West of Scotland Football League Conference B title rivals to keep them top of the table.
Isaac Burns had put Whitletts ahead before a Danny Burns double sealed victory for the league leaders, who are two points clear of second place Arthurlie having played three game more. Whitletts are third and seven points off the top spot.
Shotts have no more games this year, although they do have some friendly matches arranged.
McKeown said: “It is a great win to be honest. We had gone almost a month there without playing any games so it was good to beat a good team who are on a good run.
“It is an excellent win. It took us a while to get going which was to be expected, but once we got going, I thought we were worthy victors. I’m delighted.
“It was win at all costs to try and go into the Christmas period top of the league. That is what we have done and we have managed to get on top. Now we need to just keep winning in the second half of the season and hope Arthurlie slip up.
“We need to win all of our games at the minute so that was a good victory.”
