Shotts knocked off of top spot in West League Championship

Shotts tumbled down to fifth in the McBookie.com West League Championship after Cumbernauld United staged an audacious comeback to win 3-2 from 2-0 down o0n Wednesday night.

Sixty seconds after Craig Hastings had put Shotts 2-0 up, Paul Callendar pulled a goal back.

Chris Hall equalised in 73 minutes before Kieran McAleenan completed the comeback from the spot in 89 minutes.

Jordan Love had opened the scoring for Shotts in 12 minutes, with Hastings doubling that lead in 51 minutes.

Blantyre Vics hit rock bottom of the second tier with two defeats in as many games, after losing 2-1 at home to Darvel.

Darren Miller put the visitors ahead in 36 minutes, and Ross Caldwell levelled in 66 minutes, but Dale Jones was sent off for Vics and Daryll Meggatt bagged the winner in 69 minutes.

It's a county 1-2-3 in League 1, with Carluke, Lanark and Lesmahagow occupying the top slots.

Carluke Rovers stayed top with six points from two games and an impressive goal-difference of +8.

They were 3-0 up at Larkhall Thistle with goals from Reece Loudon, Ciaran Lafferty and Mark Cassidy, before Graham Gracie pulled one back for the Jags, who sit eighth in the table.

Lanark United kept hold of second place with an impressive 5-2 win at Royal Albert.

A Sean Lindsay double was added to by Cammy Lawson, Hugh Kerr and Jordan Fraser.

Allan Campbell was on target for one of Albert's goals, who are 15th in the 16-team league.

Lesmahagow sit third following their 2-1 win at Wishaw.

Jonny McStay got them off the mark in 40 minutes, with Kris Jarvie adding a second two minutes later.

KB Grant had a penalty saved as Wishaw tried to get back into the game, and James Coffey pulled one back in 67 minutes but they couldn't find an equaliser, leaving Wishaw in 13th place.

Bellshill Athletic sit seventh after just one game played, after their game at Glasgow Perthshire was abandoned due to a bad leg break by 'Shire player Steven Logan.

In League 2, Forth got their first three points on the board with a 2-0 win at Thorniewood.

John Branks and Michael Hardie scored in each half, leaving Thorniewood sixth, and Forth two places behind.
