Shotts maintained third place in the McBookie.com Championship table with a good 3-0 win over last season’s League One winners Gartcairn.
That leaves the Hannah Park side three points off leaders Cumbernauld United and one behind second-placed Darvel.
It took Shotts until the 71st minute to get off the mark through Aiden Malone, who took a pass from Scott Nicol and muscled his way through the defence before finishing well.
Nine minutes later Shotts were 2-0 up and Gartcairn were a man down, after sub Liam Guy punched a Barry Eley shot off the line.
Malone stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way with the penalty.
Shotts wrapped up the points with four minutes left when Eley headed in a Jordan Craig corner.
Blantyre Vics grabbed their first three points of the season with a hard-fought 3-2 win at home to Neilston.
Con Boyle put them ahead in six minutes, but that was cancelled out by a Paul Stewart double ahead of half-time.
Keirin Coleman levelled for Vics from a Dale Jones cross, though there was a hint of an own-goal about it, and Ross Caldwell (pictured) sealed the points three minutes into stoppage time, heading home an Aaron Black cross.
That puts Vics on four points, just one behind Craigmark Burtonians and Gartcairn, and two behind Petershill and Whitletts Vics.
Blantyre are at Craigmark on Saturday, where a win would take them above their hosts, and with two games in hand.
