Getting Better Together (GBT) in Shotts celebrated the Big Lunch in conjunction with Pedal For Scotland with their first outdoor event since Covid restrictions began.
GBT staff and volunteers, supported by the Salvation Army, hosted the event at Hannah Park, home of Shotts Bon Accord, which was attended by more than 200 locals, who participated in organised cycle rides, cycling skill exercises, beat the goalie, smoothie bike and various activities for children.
Attendees could also purchase bikes on the day, receive free bike repairs and Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue were on hand to equip bikes with security markings.
All attendees received a free packed lunch with tea, coffee and soft drinks thanks for funding from Shotts Tenants and Residents Association.
The organisers were delighted to welcome MSPs Graham Simpson, Neil Gray and Richard Leonard, along with councillors Martin McCulloch, Kenneth Stevenson, Clare Quigley and Peter Kelly.
June Vallance, chief executive of Getting Better Together said: “I am so proud of our staff and volunteers who, working in partnership with the Bon Accord and supported by Shotts Tenants and residents and the Salvation Army, put on an excellent event for the benefit of the local community.
“It was a great day and the feedback from those who attended has been brilliant. It was great to see support from so many of our elected members.”
