Shotts GBT awarded thousands of pounds to help new cycling programme

Getting Better Together in Shotts has been awarded a grant of £23,220 from the Scottish Government’s Community Climate Asset Fund.

The cash was used to buy a Nissan e-NV200 electric van to help reduce local carbon emissions through the Shotts group’s cycle development programme.

Currently the scheme offers a range of services including cycle skills in schools, bike repairs and loans, and hosts community events such as Big Bike Revivals. It is working to promote the well-being of its users by increasing shifts towards cycling as an active form of transport.

By integrating an electric van into the programme, Getting Better Together has completed the cycle of clean transport.
