Shotts boss John McKeown admits he was left “baffled” by the referee who almost cost his side their place in the Junior Cup.
Eight-man Bonny earned a narrow 1-0 win over Livingston United to progress, but the gaffer was furious with official Chris Newman.
Shotts were down to 10 men by the time Craig Martin got their winner, with Ally Martin having picked up two cautions in 42 and 61 minutes – the latter incident also saw bookings for Craig Crawford and Jordan Craig.
However, referee Chris Newman, showed Shotts two more red cards to Taylor Evans and Paul McGeough – all for two bookings – and five others cautioned.
With 11 bookings in total in one game, gaffer McKeown admitted it would leave him short for the North Lanarkshire derby with Gartcairn this weekend.
He said: “I’ve never seen a performance like it. It was ridiculous.
“There was a concern that he was going to send someone else off and the game would be abandoned. The performance was so erratic.”

McKeown said: “Referees have poor games like players, but I’ve never seen anything like that.
“What is important is that we are in the hat for the next round, but it leaves us short of cover this weekend.
“We have some coming back from injury, but that’s three big players out for us now. We’ve got to suck it up and move on to the next game like we have been doing all season but I expect another eight players to be out.”
