Shotts drug dealer caught with bags of cannabis avoids jail term

A Shotts man who admitted a drug-dealing charge has avoided a prison sentence.

Kieren Fallan, 25, of Cove Crescent, was put under supervision for a year and ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He was also electronically tagged for five months, meaning he can’t leave the house between 8pm and 6am each day.

Fallan admitted having cannabis with intent to supply others in Miller Street and West Craigs Road, Harthill, on November 23.

Wendy McAdam, prosecuting, said police had to cause to stop the vehicle and found a black carrier bag in the rear footwell. Inside were 12 packages of the Class B drug with a total street value of £360.

Officers also recovered £600 which has been confiscated.

At the same court Mark Smith, 31, of Bell Street, Wishaw, admitted a similar charge.

Ms McAdam said police officers stopped his vehicle in Nethan Avenue, Netherton, on December 14.

Cannabis was found in the glove compartment. Smith took the officers to his home where more cannabis was discovered.

The total value of the drugs seized was £850.

Smith was ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work.
