A man, who used two bank cards to steal booze by fraud from a Shotts store has been put behind bars ahead of his sentencing.

Henry McGuiness pleaded guilty to trying to obtain alcohol from the Co-op store in Shotts using a man and woman’s bank card on March 25.

On the same date, McGuinness, of Bellshill Road, Motherwell, also stole a quantity of booze from the Co-op and a number of razor blades from Crawfords Pharmacy in Shottskirk Road.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, Sheriff Thomas Millar deferred sentence on the 47-year-old until April 23 and called for criminal justice and social work reports to be prepared as well as a Drug Treatment Testing Order assessment to carried out.

McGuiness was refused bail and was remanded in custody.
