Police are investigating gunshots that were fired last week in northwest suburban Arlington Heights.

Officers responded about 2:04 p.m. Aug. 17 to reports of shots fired near Creekside Park, located at Nichols and Schaefer roads in Arlington Heights, according to Arlington Heights police.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw a male chasing two other males when they exchanged gunfire, police said. About six to eight shots were fired before all three people fled. No one was injured.

Police believe the males knew each other. During a search of the area, two people were found trying to leave through the perimeter and were taken in as persons of interest. A handgun was also recovered.

Police are investigating, and no charges are pending.
