Shots fired at house with young children inside as police launch investigation

Shots were fired at a house in Northern Ireland while young children were inside, police have confirmed.

The incident happened in east Belfast on Monday night.

The shots were fired at the property in the Tower Court area at around 10.25pm, Belfast Live reports.

Two children, aged five and 10, were upstairs at the time.

Police are calling for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Gardiner said: "A male occupant in his 40s was downstairs at the time of the incident, and a woman also in her 40s and two children aged 5 and 10 years old were upstairs.

"Damage was caused to the front door of the property, with no reports of any injuries.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 2210 08/11/21.
