Shots fired at car and front door of house set on fire on Salford Quays

A gunman opened fired at a car - before the front door of a house was set on fire - on Salford Quays.

Police were called to reports of shots being fired on Quay View at around 1.25am on Tuesday (September 3).

When officers arrived, they found a parked vehicle that had been damaged.

It is believed an accelerant was poured over the front door of a property on the same street then set alight.

The fire caused minimal damage to the building, police said.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation.

No arrests have been made.

A property on the street was off by police in the wake of the incident.

Officers were seen standing guard outside on Tuesday morning. Police were also seen on nearby Howard Street.

A spokesman for GMP said: "We were called at 1.25am. Police responded to reports of gun shots being heard.

"Officers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle appears to have been shot at.

"An investigation is ongoing.

"Further enquiries found an accelerant may have been used at the front door of a property. It was then ignited, causing minimal damage."
