Shot teen charged over alleged knife attack of man

A teenager who was shot by police during a disturbance south-west of Brisbane on Wednesday has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 16-year-old has been released from hospital after being shot in the chest on the afternoon of February 14 when he allegedly lunged at police with a knife.

Officers had gone to an address in response to an altercation between the teen and a man.

When police arrived they allegedly found the boy in an agitated state and armed with a knife, and a police firearm was discharged causing non-life threatening injuries to the teen.

Police said the boy had been charged on Saturday for allegedly attempting to strike the man with a knife.

The man and the boy cannot be identified due to legal reasons.

The Ethical Standards Command is continuing to investigate the incident.
