Shot breakwall cat captured four months after cull

Charlie the cat on the breakwall after he was shot in the front leg.

A cat injured in last year's cull on Stockton Breakwall has been captured by a rescue group four months after it was shot.

The cat, named Charlie by the group Stray Cats Project, was shot in the front leg but was unable to be caught until this past week.

Stray Cats Project founder Rochelle Wood said the bone had calcified around the bullet by the time Charlie was caught and the vet deemed it best to leave it in his leg.

"The knee doesn't really bend, but he can run," she said. "They decided not to take the leg off."

Charlie has since been discharged from the vet and rehomed with one of the Stray Cats Project feeders.

Ms Wood said she believed that 11 cats were still living on the breakwall, three of which were believed to have been injured in the December cull.
