Shops selling £20 mouthwash as 'cannabis eraser' for drivers to pass roadside drug test

Shops in Liverpool have been caught selling mouthwash that claims to help cannabis users pass drug tests.

The products have been seized by police today after officers from Walton Lane police station teamed up with Trading Standards to search a number of shops in the area.

Police found a product being sold for £20 that was being advertised as a mouthwash to help cannabis users pass roadside drug tests.

Named 'Recreational Erased' the mouthwash has a tag line that states it's '100% proven' to 'detox saliva'.

Police and Trading Standards say this claim is 'false' and that the mouthwash does not help aid drivers to pass drugs tests.

A spokesperson said that products such as this and drugs are 'for mugs'.

The Merseyside police spokesperson posted to the Liverpool Police Facebook page: "Officers from Walton Lane Police Station today worked with Trading Standards to conduct a number of enforcement visits on premises selling a product falsely purporting to aid drivers under the influence of cannabis to pass a roadside drugs test.

"Drugs are for mugs and so are those who buy cheap mouthwash for £20 believing you can drive under the influence and keep your licence."
