Shops forced to close after power cut hits Irvine town centre

Irvine is back in business after a 20 minute power cut closed down three major supermarkets.

Asda, Aldi and Iceland were among the stores and businesses hit by the cable fault which affected the town centre this morning.

Closures happened around 11am.

A spokesperson for Scottish power said: “We apologise for the inconvenience. We learned of the power loss due to a cable fault in the area shortly before 11am and everyone was back up and running within 20 minutes."
