Shopping lockdown Ireland: Dublin Supervalu releases statement after 'circulating social media messages' around Templeogue area

A Dublin Supervalu has lifted the lid on 'circulating social media messages' that have been going around a southside area in a statement released late last night.

A 'viral message' had been sent around to locals in Templeogue and the surrounding areas over the weekend with the local Supervalu having to come out to confirm that it will be "business as usual" in the store.

Horkan’s Supervalu said on Facebook that their store has operated a strict Covid policy since the beginning of the pandemic.

They said: "Following on from messages circulating on social media this evening regarding the Orwell Shops.

"We at Supervalu wish to clarify our store operates a strict Covid policy for staff and customers and have done so since the beginning of the pandemic.

"It will be business as usual [from Monday onwards] as we continue to provide essential service to our local community."

As well as this, Sunflower Chinese Takeaway which operates in the area has decided to close for the next couple of days in support of Government guidelines.

The takeaway, which claims to be the "founding home of the spice bag" and was awarded best spice bag in Ireland at the National Takeaway Awards in 2017 apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers.

They said: "For the safety of our staff and in support of government guidelines we feel it's best to close for the next few days, we hope you all understand and stay safe."
