Shopping app Mallzee branches out into children's and baby wear

Shopping app Mallzee has added baby and children's wear categories to its 150-plus retailers and brands.

The Edinburgh ecommerce business, which has only offered adult sizes and ranges since it was set up in 2013, has also introduced free delivery for all bar a couple of retailers whose online checkouts are not compatible.

Founded by CEO Cally Russell and billed as like Tinder for fashion, inviting shoppers to swipe right or left as they browse clothes on their phone, Mallzee is now used by over 1.5 million people and includes hundreds of thousands of products from high street and designer brands. Baby and kids' wear ranges include River Island, M&S, Joules and Tu with more to come. Users receive an alert when previously ‘liked’ items reduce in price.

Russell said: “Adding Baby and Kidswear was the next logical step for us - when we first launched Mallzee we thought we would appeal mainly to mobile savvy 16 to 24-year-olds but we soon discovered the app was being used by a much broader customer base and our users soon ranged from 16 to 81.
