Shoppers want to 'cancel Christmas' after opening Celebrations advent calendar

December 1 has arrived, which means advent calendars across the UK were opened this morning to welcome in the festive spirit.

But this is not the case for many shopper with Celebrations advent calendars, who woke this morning to find a Bounty behind door number one for the second year running.

Mars Incorporated - the company which makes Celebrations -  came under fire from Twitter users last year for its advent calendar after the divisive coconut chocolate (often the last to be left in the tubs of chocolates) was first out, reports Wales Online.

The Bounty is back at number one again this year - and shoppers are not happy.

Many have taken to Twitter once again, with many claiming the situation is a "cruel joke" and they "might as well cancel Christmas ".

One person said: "The first door on the Celebrations advent calendar being a bounty is like some sort of cruel joke, like hope you weren't banking on a good start to the month".

Another added: "Imagine the feeling when today, December 1st, I excitedly reached for my Celebrations advent calendar only to find a f****** Bounty being door #1".

One person said: "Christmas ruined already!", while another added: "Was excited to open my advent calendar to start the festivities and I was greeted by a BOUNTY. Way to ruin Christmas, Celebrations. Thanks, I hate it."

Despite the disappointment, Bounty is a clear favourite according to manufacturer Mars Inc, which polled chocolate lovers and separated the results into five age groups.

The US-based firm said Maltesers Teasers was the winner in all five age groups, followed in second by Galaxy, Galaxy Caramel and Twix.
