Shoppers totally bewildered by £220 set of earrings that aren't what they seem

As shoppers scramble to find a bargain in the Boxing Day sales today, some have been left a little confused by a few of the items up for grabs.

One woman in particular was baffled by what she thought was a set of earrings being sold online, however upon closer inspection, she discovered it wasn't in fact two pairs, but just one single earring.

The piece of jewellery was made by Maison Margiella and originally cost £220 but had been reduced to £84.

It proved confusing for her as it was designed to look like several earrings on the cardboard tag they are usually sold on in shops.

She shared her unusual discovery with followers on Twitter , writing: "*online shopping* Oo this would be a nice basic set of earrings.

" *swipes through photos* wait what."

Her post quickly went viral, with more than 527,000 likes and 119,000 retweets.

One fellow user described the product as being "shoplifter chic".

Another commented: "I will never understand high fashion."

Someone else wrote: "This makes no sense."

"Bruh those look like those cheap $1 fashion earring sets you get a kiosks at shopping plazas that end up making your ears black and green," responded a fourth.

A different person added: "Imagine hanging a tag with earrings on from your ear."
