Shoppers stunned at price of Home Bargains giant Toblerone

We all love a bit of chocolate over Christmas.

Whether it's selection boxes or advent calendars, we all stuff our faces with chocolate over the festive period.

But, would you pay £49 for a chocolate bar?

Well, Home Bargains has come under fire from furious shoppers for selling a giant toblerone bar for £49.

The bargain retailer is stocking the 4.5kg beast in stores across the country and on their website. Home Bargains says the RRP is £73.99 - an apparent saving of £24.99.

That said, shoppers are far from happy with the price. Many have taken to social media to share their reactions.

"I'd rather buy a few small ones. Probably cheaper that way and easier fit in mouth," said one.

Another added: "£50 for a chocolate bar does the price include a chainsaw? As you'll need one to try break some off it."

"Who in their right mind would buy chocolate for £49?" questioned a third.

Yet another disgruntled shopper said: "I'd rather just get my weekly shopping than waste £50 on this."

Now the big question is - is it really worth the cost? Let's look at the numbers.

To have the same amount of chocolate as Home Bargains' 4.5kg bar you'd need to buy 12.5 of them. When each is priced at £3.50, this works out at a cost of £43.75.

However, because you can't buy half a bar, you'd have to buy 13 - bringing the total to £45.50.

It's not that much cheaper when you look at it like that, however, it would make quite the stocking filler - if you can find one big enough.
