A man was arrested after shocked shoppers called police over alleged drunken disturbing behaviour outside a convenience store.
Officers were called to the area near the Co-op on The Ridgeway in Murdishaw, Runcorn, at around 6.30pm on Tuesday.
A force spokesman said their attendance followed reports of a man "acting inappropriately".
According to one social media report from a member of the public, the man was "running around in his undies".
After being assessed by paramedics, a man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
The police spokesman said: "At around 6.30pm on Tuesday, May 18, police were called to reports that a man was acting inappropriately outside the Co-op store on the Ridgeway, Runcorn.
"Officers attended the scene and a 37-year-old man was located nearby.
"Due to concerns over the man’s behaviour, he was checked by paramedics at the scene as a precautionary measure, and subsequently arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
"He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries."
