Shoppers see man in his 50s assaulted in entrance to Nottingham city centre JD Sports

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted in the entrance to the JD Sports store in Clumber Street on Monday afternoon (September 9).   

The victim, a man aged in his 50s, was punched to the face causing him to fall to the floor and bang his head.

A video taken at the scene and posted on social media shows shoppers nearby, and the impact of the fall as he crashes to the ground.

Other videos showed a large amount of blood on the floor.

The incident happened at around 3.45pm. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and was subsequently discharged.       

Inspector Paul Gummer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We’re aware that footage of this incident has been posted on social media and our enquiries are ongoing.       

“We’re urging anyone who saw what happened or who recognises any of the people involved to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 587 of 9 September 2091, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
