Shoppers say 'beef Hula Hoop' is better than Poundland engagement ring

There's still more than a month to go until Valentine's Day but that hasn't stopped budget retailer Poundland bringing back it’s £1 engagement rings.

The rings were spotted in a Poundland store over the weekend and shared on the Money Saver Online Facebook page, gaining a huge reaction from shoppers.

The post has gained more than 5,000 comments and more than 1,000 likes, with many claiming the rings are “a great idea”.

Others, however, are not convinced.

Among the comments beneath the post, Poundland fans were quick to share their thoughts on the engagement ring collection.

One person wrote: “Seriously...if I loved him and he loved me...then I'd wear it with pride. True love isn't defined by how much a ring is worth.”

Another said: “Personally I wouldn't care, it's the thought that counts! Yes it may turn your finger green but love doesn't come in material things!”

A third added: “Looks like there are some nice ones there xxxx”, while a fourth tagged their other half and wrote: “you’ve no excuse now”.

Others disagreed and even claimed that “Haribo rings are better”.

One person wrote: “I'm pretty sure any woman would be happier with a beef hula hoop.”

Another said: “Haribo rings are better, you get a treat if its either yes or a no”.

A third just wrote: “The answer would be no”.

The £1 engagement ring collection includes styles for men and women in a range of sizes, colours and designs, including a faux diamond, faux ruby, faux topaz and more.
