Shoppers in County Durham have returned to the markets for the first time in three months as lockdown restrictions in England have been eased.
Markets in Chester-le-Street and Consett have reopened with new social distancing measures including one way systems and hand cleaning facilities.
However, in neighbouring Northumberland some traders have been left furious as they've been unable to return to work.
It was announced at the end of last month that the outdoor markets would reopen as lockdown restrictions began to ease in England.
Social distancing measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of both traders and customers.
Durham County Council will be closely monitoring markets and retails to ensure safety guidelines are followed.
It was reported that Durham's indoor Market Hall will reopen at the end of the month as government restrictions are relaxed further.
The outdoor markets will open as follows:
- Crook will be the first to reopen on Tuesday June 2
- Consett market will be open on Thursday June 4, Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6
- Bishop Auckland market will be open on Thursday June 4 and Saturday June 6
- Chester-le-Street market will open on Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6.
