Asda has launched a reward app for loyal customers and shoppers are praising it as millions face a cost of living crisis.
It's the first loyalty scheme in Asda's 72-year history and rather than points - customers can gain cash. Shoppers who use the app in store and online can get cash back on their shopping when they purchase certain own-brand and big brand products.
As other stores move away from physical cards, the app has to be downloaded onto your smartphone and then can then be used in participating stores. The app was first tested across a small selection of stores before launching throughout the UK.

There are two ways to earn cash. Asda have star products all over the store that you will earn ten per cent of the cost into your spend pot. The app will also have special missions, that once you complete, the reward will be added to your spend pot.
Shoppers can access their rewards via the “cash pot” within the app. Once enough money has been saved, it can then used to create a voucher that can be scanned at the checkout.
The cashback would be personalised to shoppers, the supermarket has said, with rewards being offered on the items individuals are most likely to buy. The rewards are also available for click and collect orders as it uses the same account details.
Asda customers have since rushed to social media to praise the app. One wrote on Facebook: "Saw it this morning when I did my online food shopping. Download the rewards app and it’ll link it to your grocery app."
Another commented: "Fantastic Asda rewards offer!! Spend £25 on George school uniform, shoes, stationery and lunchboxes and get £5 cashpot reward!! See your reward app for full details! Offer ends August 31!"
