Shoppers make huge savings by baking luxury celebration cakes from discount store ingredients

Family bakers have been sharing photographs of their birthday creations with an online community of money savers and they've all been a hit.

When a birthday or cause for celebration comes along the pressure to make the day special can often come at the cost of our carefully planned budgets.

A luxury cake made professionally by a baker can cost up to £65 and even the cheaper end of the scale could set you back £30.

However, for those who want to mark the occasion and not blow the budget on a cake, there are families out there proving you don't have to compromise on the look- they are buying all of their ingredients from Aldi.

Five different cake projects have been shared on a social media page for Aldi Shoppers with some spending as little as £8 on a cake that will feed a family.

Captain Morgans cake

This cake is a novelty birthday cake for a Dad who clearly likes his rum by someone who had proved just how professional home baking can look.

"Cake I made for my dads birthday, all ingredients and fondant are from Aldi, love making my cakes with Aldi products"

"Wow such talent, looks amazing I'm sure he will be absolutely made up with this thoughtful gift. Hope he had a great birthday", said one of the comments.

Hundreds and thousands

A mum got creative with her daughter's birthday cake and opted for a doughnut cake any 2-year-old would love.

"I made a doughnut cake for my daughters birthday party this weekend. It's a victoria sponge with raspberry jam, and I used the vanilla frosting tubs to cover.

"Topped with 100 and 1000's, and raspberry meringues. All Aldi ingredients."

Cheesecake

An indulgent white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake was created by this shopper who bought everything from Aldi except the star decorations.

She said: "All Aldi ingredients apart from the stars on the top"

New Baby

For those celebrating a new addition to the family this sponge cake could be a source of inspiration.

It even features the popular multicoloured layers and confetti-filled centre and if you make the colour of the sponge all either blue or pink it could be a gender reveal cake.

80th Birthday

This baker proved that there is sentimental value to home baking as well as being beneficial for wallets- they only spent £8 on all the ingredients.

The post said: "Being as though people have been sharing photos of food and meals from Aldi and making us all drool. I thought I would share with you all a birthday cake I made my grandad who would have been celebrating his 80th Birthday today."

She added: "He, unfortunately, lost his life to covid in January. So grandad this is for you.

"This cake is all Aldi. Flour, eggs, caster sugar, icing sugar, butter, chocolate. Cost roughly 8.00 to make xx"
