Shoppers were left terrified after a man was shot and seriously injured in a suspected hit at a busy Lidl store.
The terrifying incident took place at around 5.20pm at the busy grocery store located on the Blakestown Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
A man in his 40s was shot several times in the stomach.
His injuries are described as 'serious', but not life threatening.
Meanwhile a burnt out car was found nearby and it is understood that gardai are investigating whether it is connected to the incident.
In a statement, gardai said: "Gardaí are at the scene of a shooting on Blakestown Road, Blanchardstown that occurred at approximately 5.20pm today 1 June 2019.
"A male in his 40’s has been taken to hospital. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
Locals reported a large garda presence in the area, including the garda helicopter.
A Lidl spokeswoman said: "As the incident is under investigation by the Gardai we are not in a position to comment at present. "
