A man has left fellow motorists stunned and concerned after strapping an enormous chest of drawers - complete with mirror - upright to the roof of his car.
The anonymous driver was seen parked right outside a Cancer Research UK charity shop in Paisley, Scotland, standing on the window of his vehicle as he attached the large piece of furniture, which appeared to be second-hand.
Shoppers couldn't believe their eyes as the motorist headed off home with the chest still strapped to his car, taking snaps of the bizarre, and potentially very dangerous, incident as it unfolded. It was certainly a brave move from the motorist.
Glasgow Live reports that the driver appears to have gotten the chest home safely, with a follow-up picture shared on social media showing he and another individual carrying it down the road together.
One person commented: "We drove behind him all the way and were impressed by how secure it was. Well done."
Another wrote: "Would have laid it flat but where there is a will there is a way."
A third individual remarked: "This isn't dumb in the slightest and we all doubted him! This guy deserves a round of applause and a few pints for his effort."
Of course, it goes without saying that this idea could have gone very badly, and the man could well have put himself and others at risk with his actions.
According to information on the AA website, anything carried on a car roof must be attached securely, and you'll need to make sure to stick to the maximum permitted roof load.
The Highway Code states: "You must secure your load and it must not stick out dangerously."
When fastening items to the roof of your car, you should also be aware of the fact that your handling of the vehicle will likely be affected by heavy loads, and your stopping distances will probably be longer.
