Shoppers go wild for 'cosy' hoodie that could save you £430 on your energy bills

Many Brits have been looking for ways to cut back on our energy use as rising prices indicate we’re in for an expensive winter. Air fryers have soared in popularity, among heated airers and cosy hooded blankets.

Members of the money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk have been raving about a product that keeps them toasty warm no matter how cold it gets in their house.

And new data from the company behind it has revealed that Brits can save up to £430 a year by using it instead of turning their heating on.

The hooded blanket range from luxury loungewear company Snuggy has proven to be a popular budget-friendly solution for those wanting to cut back on their energy consumption. In fact, it’s even been seen on celebrities like Charlotte Crosby and Chloe Ferry.

With prices starting from £39.99 for adults and £34.99 for kids , they’re less than half the price of the popular Oodie, which usually retail for £89 for adults and teens.

Bargain hunters from LatestDeals.co.uk revealed why they’ve bought the product, with Yvonne B writing: ‘I wear mine a lot - I love it and it keeps you warm and snuggly on the cold nights.’

Danni P said: “I got one for my Nan’s birthday - she absolutely loves it, she said she’s only had to light the fire once this year.” Lei H chipped in: “I got my adult daughters one each and they practically live in them.” Nicola P agreed: “It’s so warm. Definitely worth it.”

The Snuggy comes in a range of patterns, including leopard print and checked - they’re even a range of matching Snuggy’s for dogs, so the whole family can be cosy.

Jack Griffiths, Co-Founder of Snuggy, told LatestDeals.co.uk that the energy crisis has led to a huge rise in sales.

He said: “The energy bill announcement led to a spike in sales for us. If we compare last September to this September we saw an increase of 220 per cent in sales which is crazy.

“We started receiving a lot of reviews telling us that their full family are wearing Snuggy's instead of putting their heating on to save on bills.”

Snuggy conducted a survey with customers based on the new energy price cap and found that wearing a Snuggy for just three hours a day instead of putting your heating on could save shoppers over £430 a year.

Jack, nodding to Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis, added: “People are heating the human, not the home with our cosy products and as a result saving a lot of money. It's an initial £30-60 outlay for an annual saving of over £430 - a pretty solid investment.”

The fabrics used on the Snuggys are 100 per cent vegan and cruelty-free, with a super soft flannel fleece layer on the outside, bonded with a thick and luxury sherpa fleece on the inside.

Jack said: “In addition to this, we have recently increased the thickness of the fabrics we use at no extra charge to our customers. Our profits are lower but the product is better. The reason we are happy to do this is simple - we don't want our customers to just buy something and never come back. We want people to trust us in providing high-quality products - especially as they will now be even better at keeping you nice and warm during the upcoming winter months.”

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk is even considering getting one himself, adding: “Like the rest of us, I’ve been looking at my rising energy bills in horror, so it’s nice to see that there’s a simple and cost-effective way to cut back on the price of heating. I’ll have to look into getting one of these myself!”
