Shoppers rush to B&Q during first day of stores reopening in Liverpool

When lockdown was first announced back in March, DIY retailer B&Q closed its stores and instead customers had to use its Click & Collect service to get any essentials.

However last weekend, B&Q began reopening stores and today was finally the turn of its Liverpool stores to open their doors again.

And, it's safe to say they got a big reception from shoppers as huge queues were spotted outside B&Q stores.

At Aintree around 90 people were queuing outside this morning while at Edge Lane long queues were outside too.

Whilst B&Q has reopened its store, restrictions and strict social distancing measures are in place.

A B&Q spokesman said: "As an essential retailer, we've watched other essential retailers support social distancing in their stores and are now in a position to follow best practice and re-open a small number of our stores as a trial, while keeping our colleagues and customers safe.

"We’re strictly limiting the number of customers in store at any one time, and so customers may need to queue before entering the store."

Stores have two metre floor markings in place as well as perspex screens at its checkouts.

Services such as kitchen and bathroom design, paint mixing, timber cutting and key cutting have also been suspended.

The store will also only be accepting card and contactless payments.

B&Q stores will be open between 8am and 5pm.
