Shoppers 'flee for their lives' as gangs of yobs launch fireworks at each other in Harpurhey Asda car park

A group of yobs caused chaos as they launched fireworks at each other in a car park in Harpurhey.

The gang left shoppers 'fleeing for their lives' as they threw lit fireworks near to Asda supermarket in the shopping centre at around 8.15pm.

Footage of the incident shows the culprits running across the car park with the explosives in their hands.

They can then be seen launching them into the air and towards shoppers' cars.

The car park was left in a cloud of smoke.

An eyewitness at the scene told the MEN: "I felt like I was in a warzone.

"Everyone was fleeing for their lives whilst trying to shop.

"A group of 20 were shooting fireworks at each other, including rockets."

A group of around 20 youngsters launched fireworks at firefighters earlier this evening.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said 'attacks like these are completely unacceptable'.

Crews have also been called out to deal with a shed fire on Shaw Street in Rochdale and a bonfire which was too close to a house on Dunlin Drive in Irlam.
