Shoppers baffled as ASOS sell 'faux headphone ear piece'

Shoppers have been left baffled after clothing store ASOS listed fake headphones for sale.

The online giant has stocked a product called 'ASOS DESIGN faux headphone ear piece in silver tone', for £6.

The set of ear pieces mimic the popular white Apple wireless AirPods, which typically go for £159.

ASOS' product was spotted by eagle-eyed shoppers on social media, with thousands of people noticing it.

One user on Twitter wrote: "Next level from ASOS: fake non-functional airpods."

The tweet attracted more than 4,000 likes.

Joe Perkins commented: "You can get knock off AirPods off Amazon that are actually functioning headphones for cheaper than that."

Ethan Valentine wrote: "I know jewellery is pretty pointless as it is, but can someone explain this to me, please?"

Jenn Tretheway also tweeted the hashtag #lovemusicbuthatehowitsounds in response to the ear piece.

She also said: "Stop the world."

ASOS described the product as having a "silver tone finish [with a] headphone design."
