Shoppers are snapping up these M&S shortbread and tea tins - but are they worth it?

We've not even got to Halloween yet, but there is plenty of glittery, light up, festive food in our supermarket aisles all ready for the festive season.

As ever, Marks and Spencer has has plenty of options to make Christmas feel special.

One of the most popular, if chat on Facebook among M&S fans is anything to go by, is the limited edition tea and shortbread tins.

They're currently only available in stores (although other shortbread gifts and hampers are available online) so shoppers have been posting sightings to each other giving hints on which stores have stock availability for biscuit lovers keen to track them down.

Available in three separate colours, a gold, silver and a coppery bronze, the larger tin is £5 and contains shortbread, while the slightly smaller is £4 and contains English breakfast tea bags. Both have small lights inside which can be switched on, meaning once you've finished the contents you have lovely festive decorations for a table top or shelf.

In the interests of science, well that and putting my Christmas hat and dress on, I taste tested both. You can see how I got on in the video.

Overall the tins felt great value. The shortbread was delicious and the different Christmassy shapes it came in was a lovely touch.

The tea was just solid, tasty ordinary tea. Initially when I tried it I did wonder if a more festive flavour would have been more interesting - but actually often in these cases it's just nicer not to mess with the tea.

Fancy flavours (gingerbread tea I'm looking at you) sound great in theory, but in practice ruin the flavour of whatever else you're eating and wreak havoc with any milk in your brew.

These tins are reasonably priced, perfect as gifts for teachers or in pre-Christmas hampers and I totally understand why they're flying off the shelves. They're currently only available in store although other shortbread gifts and hampers are also available online. now.
