Shopper suffers eye damage and concussion after vicious assault in Cardiff Lidl

A shopper was left with a damaged eye and concussion after being assaulted in Lidl, Cardiff.

The 27-year-old woman who was shopping with her family at the time was assaulted at the Lidl supermarket in Ely on Sunday afternoon.

She was left with a concussion and reduced vision in one eye.

South Wales Police are appealing for information following the incident which happened after an argument broke out in one of the checkout queues, at around 1.45pm on Sunday.

Police believe the unprovoked attack was filmed on mobile phones.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We are appealing for witnesses to an incident of violent disorder following an argument in one of the checkout queues at around 1.45pm yesterday.

"A 27-year-old local woman, who was shopping with her family, was assaulted causing concussion and reduced vision in one eye.

"The suspects – three women and two men - immediately left the shop and are enquiries are on-going to identity and arrest them in connection with this incident.

"CCTV shows there were a number of shoppers present and it is believed some were filming the unprovoked assault on mobile phones."
