Shopper shares hilarious pics of dress that made her look 'like sack of potatoes'

An online shopper was stunned when she tried on a new Pretty Little Thing dress and discovered it made her look "like a sack of potatoes".

Charlotte Walsh, from Keighley, West Yorkshire, has shared a hilarious " Instagram vs reality" photograph featuring the black dress, which she ordered from the online shop last week.

The £22 smock sweater dress is worn by a size 8 model on the Pretty Little Thing website, and although it is designed to hang loosely, the style looks like it fits her.

But Charlotte, 25, couldn't believe her eyes when her order - also labelled a size 8 - arrived and she received almost double the material for her money.

Hilarious photos of her trying on the oversized dress - which was meant to be an outfit for a new job - show she could even fit another person inside.

One features Charlotte wearing it with her arms out, with billowing amounts of excess material.

Another shows her with the dress folded in half and held up against her body, which looks like it would still fit her.

Her friends have been joking that they "would all look beautiful in it together".

"It was meant to be an outfit for a new job I start on Monday," Charlotte, who has since returned the dress, explains.

"Usually I have no issues however there were a few more dresses I bought which were also bad but not as bad as that.

"My friend joked that this weekend we would all look beautiful in it together.

"Of course I sent it back, I wasn't going for the sack of potatoes look."

Tagging Pretty Little Thing in the images alongside laughing emojis, Charlotte wrote: "Online vs reality."

The laughable pictures have sparked numerous comments, including from Hayley Williams, who said: "Belly laughing over here."

Kathryn Myers, meanwhile, said: "Hilarious Charlotte."

And along with laughing face emojis, Michelle Birtles wrote: "You need to post this as a review on top."

Charlotte isn't the first Pretty Little Thing customer to have made a purchase which arrived looking very different to how it appears online.

In January, Kelly Lavin from Wirral, Merseyside bought a polka dot blouse from the website which she says made her "look like a parachute".

In 2018, customer Ashley Nicole Teran from Florida suffered an X-rated fail when she bought a bodycon dress with "an extreme thigh split and a plunging neckline".

A spokeswoman for Pretty Little Thing declined to comment on the pictures.
