Shopper knocked down and hurt in hit and run

A woman was knocked over by a car in a hit and run incident in Liverpool.

The 63-year-old woman was hit by a car on Adlam Road, Fazakerley at around 5pm on Thursday, November 5.

Police are now appealing for information after the collision, as the driver took off after hitting the victim.

The woman sustained a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition was described as serious but not life-threatening.

Jake Dunbabin, 25 , from Fazakerley, witnessed the incident and rushed to help the woman.

He said: “There was a woman just lying the middle of the road, so I pulled over to help.

“All her shopping was everywhere, I was asking what happened, if she was okay and she said she was hurt.

“I rang 999 and spoke to operators, did everything they told me to do and waited with her after getting blankets put over her.”

It is believed residents on the road are planning to set up a petition for a speed bump.

Jake added: “There’s a park over the road and people are always flying up and down it, and on bikes.

“So those that live in the area have been talking saying they want a speed bump for the road.”
