A staff member at a shop in South Belfast was threatened with a screwdriver during an armed robbery.
Police received reports at around 9.20pm on Tuesday, October 5, that a man had entered a convenience store on the Ormeau Road and threatened a member of staff with a screwdriver and demanded the till and cigarette locker be opened.
He then fled the scene with cash and cigarettes. The suspect has been described as being approximately 5’ 8” in height, of stocky build, and was wearing a grey top with the hood up, blue jeans, dark trainers, and a blue surgical mask and blue gloves.
Detective Sergeant Natalie Moore said: “We received a report of a robbery at the premises at Ormeau Road at around 9.20pm.
“A male entered the store and threatened a staff member with what is believed to have been a screwdriver.
“He demanded that the till and cigarette locker be opened, and made off from the scene with cash and cigarettes.
“The suspect is described as being approximately 5’ 8” in height, of stocky build, and was wearing a grey top with the hood up, blue jeans, dark trainers, and a blue surgical mask and blue gloves.
“Our enquiries into this incident are continuing, and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have any information which could assist, to contact detectives immediately on 101, quoting reference number 1864 of 05/10/21.”
