Shop worker punched in neck after confronting woman

A shop worker was punched in the neck after confronting a woman who was attempting to steal from a Shirehampton store.

The incident happened at around 9.30am on March 16 at the Co-Op/Texaco service station on High Street.

Police have issued a CCTV appeal to identify a woman who is wanted in connection with the assault and theft.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "We’re releasing a CCTV image of a woman we’d like to identify.

"We’d like to talk to her in connection with an assault and theft in Shirehampton.

"A member of shop staff was punched in the neck when he challenged a woman attempting to steal a number of items.

"Anyone who recognises the woman is asked to call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5219056960."
