Shop where you can buy heavily discounted items from M&S, Tesco, Aldi, Sainsbury's and Waitrose

There’s a little known supermarket where you can buy heavily reduced items from shops including M&S, Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Tesco, that would otherwise go to waste.

Company Shop redistributes items from high street shops, at six stores across the UK and one is right here on Merseyside.

The company aims to sell products cheaper than you would find in supermarkets and stock is ever-changing, so there are always bargains to be found.

It claims to offer "favourite big brands at up to 70% off the normal price".

Brands you will find in store can include Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda, Ocado, Marks and Spencer, Lidl, Co-op, Morrisons, Tesco and Iceland.

Bargain items on the shelves include beer, wines and spirits, household items including personal care products and pet care, items with old packaging or "damaged products" with manufacturing errors, items with a short shelf life and stock with foreign labels.

One mum, who visited a store in the midlands, said she managed to do a week's shop for £25 and get the kids some treats too, reports NottinghamshireLive.

The mum of two go a whole chicken for £1.75 and vegetables for 20p.

The only catch is, to use Company Shop, customers must have a membership, like at Costco and to take out a membership you must work in or have a pension from working in certain industries. These include the food manufacturing supply chain, NHS and private hospital workers including people who work in dentists, pharmacies, doctors surgeries and students. Emergency service workers, including police and fire service workers, students and volunteers. HMP service employees and all British Armed Forces.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, temporary memberships are also being offered to people working in support services including St John Ambulance, ambulance workers and Blue Light card holders; community service workers including care home staff and teachers; and people who have returned to working in the NHS, police and fire service in response to COVID-19.

The St Helens store is open from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm, and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Company Shop also has stores in Grimsby, Washington near Sunderland and Wentworth near Sheffield.
